Quick definitions of the terms used in field audits, verification and collections support.
- Asset tagging
- Fixing a barcode or QR label to equipment and linking it to an asset register so it can be tracked and verified.
- Activation verification
- Checking that a brand activation — booth, promoters, branding — ran as planned at the agreed place and time.
- Contact point verification (CPV)
- A physical visit to confirm an applicant lives or works at the address they gave, used by banks and NBFCs before lending.
- Field verification
- A physical visit to confirm that an outlet, asset, address or business matches what was reported, backed by a checklist and photos.
- Field visit
- Any on-ground visit by a field executive to a location to observe, check, collect or deliver something on a client's behalf.
- Footfall count
- The number of people passing or entering a location in a set time, used to judge site potential or campaign reach.
- Geo-tagged photo
- A photograph that carries the GPS location and time it was taken, used as proof of a visit.
- Mystery shopping
- A trained shopper poses as a customer to assess sales handling and service quality.
- Outlet census
- Listing and mapping every shop in an area by type and category to plan distribution.
- Physical verification
- Seeing and recording an asset, stock or premises in person instead of relying on documents.
- Planogram
- A diagram showing exactly where and how products should be placed on a shelf.
- POSM
- Point-of-sale material — danglers, wobblers, posters, stands — used to promote products in stores.
- Promise to pay (PTP)
- A borrower's commitment to repay a stated amount on a stated date, recorded during collections follow-up.
- Recovery agent
- A person authorised by a lender or its agency to follow up with borrowers on overdue payments, within the lender's code of conduct.
- Retail audit
- A structured check of outlets for branding, stock, pricing or display compliance.
- Shelf share
- The share of shelf space a brand occupies compared with competitors in a category.
- Site survey
- A visit to record space, access, surroundings and suitability of a site for an installation or outlet.
- Stock audit
- Counting physical stock and comparing it with book records to find variances.
- TAT
- Turnaround time — how long from receiving a case to delivering its report.
